Replicable Recipes in DT-aCoGo project enable European reuse of computational models
Crazy, isn't it? Hundreds of cities with the same climate problems, but everywhere we are building standalone calculation models that no one can reuse.
In the recently completed project DT-aCoGo (Digital Twin as a Common Good), co-funded by the European Union, we showed that things can be done differently. Together with three European cities: Rotterdam, 's-Hertogenbosch, and Tampere, and a strong consortium of partners: Purple Polar Bear , The People Group , Tygron , Nelen & Schuurmans , and Dat.Mobility, we demonstrated how cities can collaborate smartly using their Digital Twin via our Open Urban Platform: the Clearly.Hub , the practical gateway to the European Data Spaces.
The result? A proven blueprint that allows cities to reuse not only data but also complete solutions from one another.
From raw data to usable practice

With the Clearly.Hub , we are breaking through traditional data silos. We built a digital infrastructure in which municipal data, smart calculation models, and 3D visualizations communicate seamlessly with each other.
Local data on heat, floods, and traffic is automatically converted to a single open standard. In an interactive 3D viewer, cities can run scenarios and immediately see the impact of their plans.
Replicable Recipes: Quickly and easily reuse calculation models

The real breakthrough in this project lies in the Replicable Recipe Templates : practical 'recipes' that allow cities to easily reuse solutions.
Whereas cities normally spend months on expensive consultancy processes to link data, security requirements, and models, we now offer a ready-made blueprint. The technology, data flows, and security are predefined within it.
Thanks to this practical 'cookbook', a municipality in Spain or Finland will soon be able to roll out exactly the same climate scenarios as Rotterdam or Den Bosch, without reinventing the wheel or incurring high start-up costs.
From complex IT to direct societal impact
What does this mean concretely for cities?
This provides a future-proof alternative to costly custom solutions and non-scalable POCs. Whereas municipalities previously had to invest significant time and resources in intensive integration processes to link disparate data sources to new models, this connection is now immediately available via the Clearly.Hub .
The biggest gain? By joining forces as cities, you only need to invest in infrastructure once to reap multiple benefits. This results in enormous savings for individual municipalities in consultancy and internal hours, all while retaining full control over their own data!
Moreover, this allows cities to easily simulate successful climate scenarios from other municipalities and apply them to their own living environment. Whether it involves visually calculating heat stress, flood risk, or traffic congestion: cities learn from each other's choices, better substantiate decisions, and prevent costly remedial work during the final implementation.
To promote these best practices and broad acceptance across Europe, the project delivers a practical 'cookbook' for developing and implementing a Replicable Recipe. This concept is actively disseminated and further developed internationally with DS4SSCC, Living-in.EU , Citiverse, NLDT EDIC, and Urban Innovators. Locally, Rotterdam, 's-Hertogenbosch, and Future Insight share the results within the ecosystem of Dutch Metropolitan Innovations (DMI) and Geonovum. among comparable cities.
