New in Clearly.BIM: Convert IFC to CityGML 3 at the touch of a button.

Thanks to the latest release update, you can now effortlessly convert IFC models to CityGML 3. This ensures the world of the architect aligns seamlessly with the processes of the urban planner.

In the construction and urban planning sector, the market and the government often talk at cross purposes. The architect speaks the language of BIM (IFC), rich in architectural details. The municipality and building authorities speak the language of the city: GIS (CityGML), focused on spatial context, policy, and regulations. This difference in perspective does not always make collaboration easy.

Thanks to the latest update of Clearly.BIM , we are bridging this gap. By automatically translating BIM data into CityGML 3, information becomes more usable for urban and municipal processes.

Automated IFC to CityGML 3 transformation via the export button

Clearly.BIM interface in which a 3D BIM model (IFC) is exported to CityGML 3 via the download menu for municipal GIS use.
From IFC to CityGML 3 with the click of a button: Clearly.BIM automatically generates the desired levels of detail (LOD) from the source model.

With this new release, we are taking the power of Clearly.BIM to the next level. While you were already accustomed to viewing, validating, and automatically checking the quality of BIM models online at lightning speed, we are now adding powerful new export functionality to CityGML 3.

You simply need to press the export button; Clearly.BIM then performs the entire, complex translation for you in the background. This allows us to make complex IFC files immediately readable for everyone within your government organization, without the need for heavy software packages or specialized GIS knowledge.

Unique Multi-LOD support for export

As soon as you start the export, the software automatically extracts various Levels of Detail from the same source model. In this way, Clearly.BIM directly generates LOD0 data, such as 2D building contours and rooflines, directly from the 3D BIM model.

The result: Source data is directly usable for national systems such as the BAG, BGT, and WOZ without manual translation steps.

How does this speed up your checks and processes?

Thanks to the automatic conversion to CityGML 3, a new construction project lands directly in the correct location in your digital twin or 3D city model. This opens the door to integrated, automated analyses. In addition to the technical validation of the building itself, you can now directly assess the impact on the surrounding environment:

  • Urban planning fit: Automatically check designs for maximum building heights and building lines in accordance with the environmental plan.

  • Building intensity: Evaluate building parameters directly in relation to the surroundings.

  • Environmental impact: Assess visual sightlines or noise effects in the context of the existing buildings.

  • Sun and shade effects: Analyze the effects on surrounding plots directly in the city model.

No more technical barrier to rapid checks

The new release of Clearly.BIM is now available. There is no longer any technical excuse for manual delays. The technology to accelerate your permitting process and data management is ready for you. With this update, you permanently remove the barrier between architect and urban planner.
